What is ultra high molecular weight polyethylene?

 

Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE for short) is polyethylene with molecular weight of more than 1 million. It is the third generation of high-performance fiber after carbon fiber/aramid fiber and belongs to thermoplastic engineering plastics.  

 

Advantages of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene  

 

Although the molecular structure arrangement of UHMWPE is the same as that of ordinary PE, it has many excellent properties that ordinary PE does not have because of its very high molecular weight.  

 

(1) Excellent wear resistance.  The wear resistance of uHMWPE pipe is 4-7 times higher than that of ordinary steel pipe and 27.3 times of stainless steel pipe.  

 

(2) Low friction coefficient, automatic lubrication.  Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene pipe can move freely in the harsh environment and sediment areas, ensuring that the relevant workpiece will not be worn and strained.  

 

(3) tasteless.  Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a national certified material, tasteless, anti-pollution and anti-moth new type of material.  

 

(4) the surface is not adhesion, no scaling.  Uhmwpe has surface nonadhesion due to its low friction coefficient and non-polarity.  

 

(5) Low temperature resistance.  Uhmwpe tube can be stored between -269℃ and 80℃ for a long time. Due to the lack of unsaturated molecules in the molecular chain and high stability, its aging speed is particularly slow.  

 

(6) Chemical resistance.  Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene has excellent chemical resistance, in a certain range of temperature, concentration of many corrosive media and organic solvents are helpless to it.
